Lots of sightseeing and eating in this fascinating island city. One of our favourite attractions so far has been a visit to the Blue Mansion. We spent our first night right in Georgetown and loved the busy street atmosphere. Bella has been chatting to everyone who stops to talk, telling them all about everything that is on her mind. She seems to be really loving all the friendly interaction and looking at all these new sights. She loves the sculptures and temples and has been wearing a little yellow bandanna as a head dress too. I think she is really missing having friends her age to play with though.(her friend Skylie has been mentioned many times this week!, hi Sky, Sonie + Troy).
Yesterday we went to the Botanic gardens, which was full of monkeys much to our delight. We then walked down the hill to the Youth park where there was lots of play equipment and a fabulous cascade of about 6 kids swimming pools all down the gully surrounded by lush tropical gardens.
After a lovely swim and cool down we saw some cheeky monkeys open a garbage bin right in front of us and make a huge mess which attracted a large monitor lizard. This is the only one we have seen so far and it looked a lot like an Aussie goanna. These monitors are not afraid of anything, and everyone including monkeys were keeping their distance.
Here are a few pics but we will post again about our time in Penang later.

Wow Penang! I spent my first overseas trip there with Dad thirty years ago. I'm glad Bella has a good time. Hope Finn is too - xoxo

ReplyDeleteIs that Bella in the fountain? How cool! Just looking at the food brings back the smell of the curries. So glad that you are all having such a great time. And what is that fruit that looks like longan? So much to see and experience!
ReplyDeleteLook forward to the next leg of the trip.
