Ok so we cheated a little bit on this leg! Tanjung Sutera, despite being perched on a headland, was close enough to a swamp to be full of very bitey mosquitoes. So despite being very tired from the previous days ride, we were keen to leave. It was hot (even hotter than usual i.e. no clouds to stop the sun).
We decided to chat with the resort staff and in due course secured a dual cab ute and friendly driver to take us fifty kms north to another resort we had seen on the net called Felda Residence at Tanjung Leman.
It was quite a change travelling by car, but the very repetitive (up a palm covered hill then down again) landscape we passed and the particularly hot day led to no regrets that we skipped riding this stretch.
Arriving at Tanjung Leman we had our first minor disaster of the trip when the ATM didn't like our cards and we needed cash to pay the driver. Fortunately one of the bank staff offered to drive Mark two hours to the regional centre of Mersing (further north and actually on our planned route). So we split up, with Mark and Bella going after the money and Bron and Finn heading to the resort with the bikes and panniers.
We were all successful with our efforts, with Bron being very impressed with the Felda Resort and warmly welcomed when she arrived, and Mark being unimpressed with the smelly industrial wasteland that was Mersing but very satisfied with the ATM that accepted our cards.
Reunited at the resort our whole family had a swim - the first of many here - in the lovely pool and then enjoyed a taste of home with some slightly spicy, but very yummy spaghetti.
Tanjung Leman certainly has the best swimming pool we have enjoyed yet, and even better the resort itself is only a year old so it's in great condition too. Turns out the Felda corporation, apart from running a swish resort, produces 9 percent of the worlds palm oil - not surprising considering how many million palms we have seen in the last few days!

The resort looks gorgeous. I'm glad you all had a lovely rest days there. Looking forward to the next adventure - Lots of hugs...

The swimming pools look fantastic - you are so lucky to come across a newly built resort and with so few guests! Bella and Finn are clearly loving it, and it have been so relaxing for both of you to be able to chill out in such nice surroundings. On to the next milestone! I am so glad it is going well overall.

ReplyDeleteAh, what fun, what fun!! Wish I could have a swim with you all, instead of being in a million layers and in front of the fire with a hot-water bottle.
ReplyDeleteIt was a shame we missed your call yesterday, but lovely to hear you voice on the machine.
Sending lots of kisses to Bells and Finn.xxxxxxxxxxxx
