So we are finally here. The kids did remarkably well overall, though they had a hard time on the domestic leg cause they were worn out by that stage. The airport is lovely, and we are staying at the airport hotel. It's six in the morning now and I'm about to build the bikes so we can roll out of here by checkout time at eleven. Haven't found a sim card yet, so I can't predict when the next blog post will be - but I'm hoping we won't be offline more than a week. We are heading over the mountains to Furano and if I can't get a card today I'm hoping to get one there.
Japan is great so far, particularly the friendly and very helpful people. Finn and Bella are proving popular with the locals too! Except for that couple who were sitting in front of us when Finn decided to start kicking the seat... Sorry guys, he'd been traveling for 26 hours at that point. Amusingly, Finn's first comment on landing at Chitose was "I want to go to our home... NOW!". He took to jumping on the hotel beds like a pig on mud, so I'm confident it was just a short lived rebellion.
OK I best get tinkering, these bikes won't assemble themselves.
Thanks for the update. I was starting to worried when I didn't hear from you. Glad you got there safely and about to hit the road. Have fun and hear from you again soon - xox
ReplyDeleteJumping on the bed! That brings back memories of another little boy I knew! By now you will have the bikes assembled and on the road. Happy cycling and give the kids plenty of opportunities to burn off energy. Look forward to the next post. Dad
ReplyDeleteGo team Palaskas! Looking forward to hearing about the next leg of your adventure.
ReplyDeleteWe've had some of the coldest weather this season in the last week here in Canberra, so let the warm breeze bring smiles to your faces as you whizz along!
